At last, I was able to upload my entry to this week’s derby. I didn’t have the chance to work on the design and submit it until now, more than a day after the derby started. And on top of that, Woot’s servers aren’t working right and it took me at least an hour to figure out how to make it “work”. But I did it, and I really like the final results.
This week’s theme is Household Chores. My design tells the story of the Laundry Police that is cracking the case of the Missing Sock. The Washing Machine is the usual suspect and they are following his every step to solve this case. The Laundry Police character is a milk carton that has a picture f the missing sock on his side. The derby didn’t allow the use of text, so it was a challenge to design the mugshot of the washing machine, specially the part were his name and number should appear. I used the universal washing machine symbols to design this area. On the background of the mugshot, instead of using numbers (text not allowed) to show the suspects height, I used the symbols for identifying the water temperature on the washing machines.
